It’s only February but Hollywood is already promoting its lineup of spring and summer features.  Here’s La Puma‘s picks for the most anticipated movies of the season.

Black Panther (February 16): This is the 1st Marvel movie featuring an African American in the lead role. It follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the king of Wakanda, returns home to take his place as king. But when challenged, he becomes the Black Panther in order to thwart world destruction.

Avengers: Infinity War (May 4): After the events of Captian America: Civil War the Avengers must reunite in order to save the planet from the evil Thanos. Their mission is to collect all 6 Infinity Stones. The fate of the planet is in the hands of the Avengers.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25): This movie will be the 2nd Star Wars anthology film set before the original 1977 film. The movie follows the adventures of a young Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, and Chewbacca, Joonas Suotamo. Disney’s anthology films have been doing better than their main trilogies.

Ocean’s 8 (June 8): with an all-female cast, the Ocean’s 11 spinoff features Debbie, who attempts to pull off a heist at New York City’s annual Met Gala. She assembles the perfect crew.  The film stars Sandra Bullock as Debbie, along with Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The movie should bring a new twist to the original Ocean’s 11 and do well in a post-Harvey Weinstein Hollywood.

The Incredibles 2 (June 15): 13 years after the 1st filmIncredibles 2 will pick up exactly where the action left off.  Underminer will provide the adversary for Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. The teaser trailer has more than 113 million views, making it the biggest trailer debut for an animated film.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22): The sequel to Jurassic World and the 5th installment of the Jurassic Park series will follow former park manager Claire Dearing,  as well as Bryce Dallas Howard, Owen Grady, and Chris Pratt, as they work together to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from a volcanic eruption.

Mary Poppins Returns (December 25): If you thought the gap between the Incredibles films was long, this sequel will be released 54 years after the 1964 original. Set in 1930’s London, Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Michael and Jane Banks, returns after Michael has a personal loss.
