An annual tradition of the visual art department, light sculptures were displayed during the evening open house event on February 1.  This year’s edition involved collaboration between art students and students from various other campus departments.

Students from the Language department worked with art students to craft depictions of famous cultural icons such as “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt. Each of the department’s language courses was represented by a different icon unique to the respective culture, including a portrait of Frida Kahlo for Spanish.

Students from French 5 worked in the art room on January 25 to assist in the assembly of their light sculpture.

Each installation included light bulbs to illuminate the exhibit during the evening open house.

The Special Education department created sculptures made of plastic cups. Art teacher Jill Langston said Special Ed department chair Michelle Alessandria “really stepped up” to help with the project along with her students.

Meanwhile, the Math department asked students to donate old pieces of their homework and scratch paper to add to its exhibit.

The Leadership class chipped in as well, collecting student responses on cutouts of stars and other shapes. These were glued to an installation that hung from a tree.
