After being beaten by the Dons on March 15, the boy’s golf team avenged that loss with a 207 to 211 win over Acalanes at the Moraga Country Club on March 21.

It is good news for a team that lost most of it’s 2018 NCS championship roster to graduation.

Coach Gary O’Neil was pleased with his teams performance over a formidable opponent.  “To [Acalanes’] credit, they are playing very well this season,” he said.

Sophomore Baron Szeto stayed on par through the match.

Junior Joe Marinai also has a strong showing for the Cougars, battling back from some early struggles.

According to O’Neil, Marinai parred the last 4 holes to help seal the win.

Had they lost, they “would have suffered a major setback,” added O’Neil in reference to his team’s NCS tournament chances.

Sophomore player John Lagomarsino thought that Campolindo had performed “pretty well”, and that the rivalry made the league match “more intensive to win.”

However, Szeto disagreed. “As a team, I feel like we could have done a lot better and as an individual, I could have done a lot better,” he said.
