“My dad is the one who is really into boardsports,” said De La Cruz, “He kind of got [my siblings and] me into it."
Out of all the board sports, De La Cruz skateboards the most often. “Skateboarding is the most that I do [because] it is more accessible,” De La Cruz explained.
In addition to surfing, skating, and snowboarding, De La Cruz enjoys reading horror and thriller novels. She 1st got into the genre after reading Lord of the Flies in 6th grade. By around 8th grade, she started reading more horror novels.
Stephen King is one of De La Cruz’s favorite horror authors, although she also enjoys “thrillers and a lot of murder mystery [novels].”
This year, De La Cruz looks forward to improving her writing as a La Puma staff writer.
